President’s Report June 2022

Thursday, June 30th, 2022

This year’s Weekender was arranged in late May, around Murray Bridge.  The photos above give a tiny insight into the fun we had and the interesting venues we visited.  No doubt these will be added to in later sections of Trak.  Thanks Bill and Margie Berlemon for another wonderful weekender.

Once again at our last meeting there was a great turn up as members came along to get their logbooks signed off before the end of the financial year.  It was particularly pleasing to see the camaraderie that was displayed and the vigorous discussions taking place as members renewed friendships and common inTRests with others they hadn’t seen, due to Covid or not being able to get to meetings for a while.

The night was added to by 2 talks from members on memorabilia (or trips down memory lane).  My thanks go to Kevin Foster and John Tuohy for the efforts they put in in entertaining us.

Our Day of Triumph Mid-Year Trophy Presentation is at Mick O’Shea’s Pub, Hackham, this year on Sunday 26 June.  It will have taken place by the time you are reading this, and we hope you were able to take advantage of the Club’s subsidy and enjoyed the event.

As I’ve mentioned before, we are looking for a commitment from someone to take over running of the Day of Triumph (DOT) from Ian Rigby.  When mentioning this at the last meeting a suggestion was made that perhaps a small group (3 to 4) might be better placed to take over the role.  I believe this is worth considering and so if you would like to be included and contribute to this vital Club role, let Ian (0417 085 083) or me (0438 765 358) know as soon as possible.

Another reminder about the AGM, which is coming up at the August meeting.  A strong Club thrives because of strong participation by members at all levels.  Think about what you might do to contribute to the Club and let us know at the AGM or before.  All members of the Committee are available at any time to chat about our roles.

Some interesting Club events are coming up so check out the social calendar.   I look forward to seeing you in July.

Kind regards,

Peter Davidge (President)

Socially Speaking for July 2022

The weekender went well with 26 Adults and 1 Child attending.  We managed to dodge most of the rain, and all events went ahead!  We visited two car museums – one at Tottness – Classic Car Studio – fabulous place, and one at Mypolonga- Revolution Motor Museum – as well as the Aussie Apricots at Mypolonga. Great places to visit.

June 26th was a club run with the Trophy Presentations from the Day of Triumph.  Meals for members were subsidized by $10.00.  27 Members enjoyed the run and Lunch at Mick O’Shea’s Irish Pub, South Road, Hackham. Peter and Ian presented the Day of Triumph Trophies to the winners for the day. Thanks to Sue and Rory for organising this for us.

July 24th – a visit to Garden Grove Garden Centre – the head gardener is giving us a talk about the latest plants to plant, and what is coming into season.

SOS . . . HELP WANTED!!!

Friday, April 22nd, 2022

Each year TSOA fields a team in the MSCA 6-Hour Regularity Relay and this year we have a complement of 5 TR7 / TR7 V8’s plus one invited interloper in a TR7 – Toyota 86.

What we need are people to support your team. We need team members to man (or person?) the Stop Watches on each lap, we need people on the pit wall to relay the lap times to our drivers as they pass, and we need people to manage the changeover of cars as they finish and start their session. Plus we need someone to do the running for Roger, poor boy.

So if you can spare your Sunday, 1st May, for a fun time supporting your TSOA team in this prestigious event, please contact Roger 0458 621 161 to register your commitment.

The team needs you from 8.45 am at Mallala (Garages 36, 37, 38 and 68,69 – right behind the form-up area for cars entering the track) through to 5.00 pm for the conclusion of the 6 Hour event . . . you may have guessed the official start time for the event is 11.00 am.

Lunch and drinks are provided (courtesy of your club) and Cherri is providing her famous muffins for sustenance during the day.

Join us for a fun day supporting your Team and your club.

Roger

Day of Triumph 2022

Day of Triumph 2022

It’s on again the TSOA annual DAY OF TRIUMPH.

Polish the chrome and get ready to be judged.

This year’s event will again be at Civic Park Modbury
SUNDAY 3rd of April

Cars need to be in place early and can’t be removed until the end of the
event at 3pm for safety reasons. Gates open around 8.30am

The rules and scoring are the same as prior years and it will be the point score
that wins you the trophy. However due to low numbers over the past years, cars
may be grouped for judging.

The car needs to support the class and score ranking it has been entered into.

I will need a lot of help again from several people on the day who have an
eye for detail, especially Concours.

Please join me and many others on the day.

Apologies: It was flagged earlier that the event would be at the rotunda at the park in Adelaide but unfortunately the council pulled out at the last minute due to ground works.
