Socially Speaking – March 2015

Sunday, February 22nd, 2015

Ice Cream run was well participated with 48 people enjoying Noonie’s Cafe – some for tea, some for coffee, some for ice cream and some for all! This remains a very popular event for the start of our Calender year.

All British Day was again well supported by our Club with nearly 50 entries. The weather was kind to us and we were also on the main oval next to the food and coffee….probably won’t be so luck next year as they do move clubs around.  The ABD Executive has asked us to advertise the positions of representatives to the Committee who are computer literate, so if you are interested please see me.

Margie and I have sat down and put together a proposed Calendar for our 50th Anniversary Celebration of Events. I presented this Calendar at our February committee meeting and am delighted to advise that the Committee has agreed to allocate extra funding ($4,000) to assist with running these events above our normal budget.

March 15th is a Lunch run which Ian Rigby is organising.  Ian always sets excellent runs so don’t miss out on this one!

April 19th is our annual Breakfast Run this year to Birdwood Motor Museum with exceptional club discount on entry of $10.00 per car including Museum entry. See Flyer this issue.

May 3rd is the 6 hour regularity at Mallala so Roger will again be looking for your assistance.

May 15th-17th is our Annual (3 day) Weekender to the Barossa. We have done a lot of work to make this event exciting so book now to secure your place. With extra subsidies from the club we have been able to put together an exceptionally priced package – even better rates can apply if you are prepared to share two bedroom accommodations with family etc.

A full 2015 Calendar is enclosed in the magazine.

Till we meet again

Girl Torque – February 2015

Tuesday, January 27th, 2015

Wow another year has gone and boy does time fly! I had 4 weeks off work….not too sure where it all went, but Bill and I did have a few days in the Barossa for some R & R…..we spent most of the time working on the Weekender…but it was great to get away from the routine stuff! So yes the Weekender is in the Barossa this year, and it will be for two nights! Dates are 15th-17th May. More details to follow!

Some of our members are not travelling too well at present so our love goes out to Lorraine Page, Lorraine Cini and Sue Smithson and wish them all the best in the coming weeks.

Raelene and Ian Rigby and Carolyn and Wayne Byrne have become grandparents again so Congratulations from all of us.

Naomi and Meranie are expecting and we are excited to hear that we have the little pitter patter of feet joining the club in the middle of the year…our Congratulations to both couples.

Enjoy the summer and enjoy your family time.

Socially Speaking – August 2014

Monday, September 8th, 2014

July saw an afternoon run set by Natalie and Bob from the Top of Taps through the beautiful Adelaide Hills to the Watershed Cafe at Mawson Lakes.  Although not a lot of starters at the beginning some members joined in the afternoon tea, which was a great location, thanks Natalie and Bob.

The August run set by Peggy and Brian was a great day and the Triumph’s were joined by the Sunbeam and Stag clubs for the run and Lunch at Currency Creek Winery – a noisy group in the Winery! Thanks Peg and Brian.

September is a busy month with a mid week run on September 10th , followed by the General Meeting, then the all important Breakfast run on September 21st. This day is also the day of the Sprint car display, so a busy day for all to enjoy.  September 28th is the Bay to Birdwood and we will be back at the old spot on Dequetteville Terrace from 9.00am.

So its time to get out the Triumph’s and enjoy a busy month ahead!

Till we meet again.

Socially Speaking – July 2014

Thursday, July 3rd, 2014

Reports for this year’s weekender will be found in other areas of TRak and for next year’s run we are proposing a three day two night event…but will need to watch the area the 2016 Nationals are going to so we don’t duplicate the events.

Forty people have booked into the Pasta Night on the 27th June at the Marche Club and we are confident it will be a great success.

July’s club run is an afternoon run on Sunday 20th July 1.30pm start at the Top of Taps with Afternoon Tea at The Watershed Cafe at Mawson Lakes – having been to the Watershed Cafe before, we have been most impressed with this unique venue on the Greenfields Wetlands.

Tuesday August 5th is the next Ladies Lunch…The Place next Door, Burnside at 12.00noon.

Sunday 24th August is out Lunch run to Currency Creek – meet Top of Taps at 9.30am for a special Menu Deal, Peggy has organised for us at $25.50 per person…please pay a deposit of $10.00 per person next meeting so we can confirm numbers at the venue.

September holds our Annual Club Breakfast on the 21st with the following Sunday 28th the Bay to Birdwood Run with the return to the old run and our meeting spot of Dequetteville Terrace.

As you can see even though it is winter, there is still plenty of club events for you to enjoy.

Till we meet again

Girl Torque – July 2014

Thursday, July 3rd, 2014

Well we had the first Ladies Lunch at The Place Next Door at Burnside in June….only a few of us attended, so we will try again in August and discuss future meeting places for the future.

Best wishes to Fay who has been couped up with a broken foot…hope you are on the mend soon.

The Supper Roster is empty for September……anyone who can help please let me know we appreciate your help.

Well as the weather is cold and the heaters are on, I hope you are all keeping well and not too many people are on the sick list.

See you all soon.

Socially Speaking – May 2014

Thursday, May 1st, 2014

March run to Murray Bridge was well enjoyed as we travelled along the back routes avoiding the Freeway. Lunch on the riverfront was good and the bird display was excellent. Thanks to Ian and Raelene Rigby for organising the day.

April Run we travelled from St Agnes to Gawler for morning tea via One Tree Hill enjoying magnificent scenery. We then travelled onto the Northern Expressway to St Kilda Tramway Museum for club sponsored Gourmet Sausage Sizzle.  Lunch and Museum enjoyed by all. Thanks to Bob and Lorraine Cini for a great run.

May sees two of my favorite events on the annual calendar – the 6 hour regularity at Mallala on the 6th followed by the Annual Weekender to the Copper Coast on the 17th and 18th. Please wear name tags to the Weekender – about 40 people attending, so I am sure we will have a great time.

June is our Pasta Night on the 27th – bookings essential – please pay at the next meeting.

Again a busy calendar to enjoy and get the best out of our Triumphs….

Till we meet again

Report – Club Run to St Kilda

Sunday, April 13th, 2014

It was a bright sunny morning and 30 or so members gathered at St. Agnes Shopping Centre, most of them in Triumphs plus one “Mini” Triumph.

We headed off through Tea Tree Gully, Inglewood, Kersbrook heading to Gawler where we had a lovely morning tea at Cafe Nova.

We then headed towards the Northern Expressway where drivers could put their foot down and blow some cobwebs away.

At the end of the expressway we  headed for the Tramway Museum at St. Kilda where we enjoyed a club sponsored barbeque of gourmet sausages and freshly baked rolls.  After lunch we were free to look at the Museum and have rides on the trams.

It was a very enjoyable day, with perfect weather and company.

Thanks to Bob and Lorraine Cini for organizing the run and to Bill and Rory for cooking the barbeque and Margie and Sue  for preparing the rolls and condiments.

Cheers,

Lorraine P.
