The last ladies technical session at Café Buongiorno Mitcham on 9th August saw lots of talk re all things Triumph especially the upcoming National Meeting in October.   The next get together will be Tuesday 11th October at the same venue, and we hope to see you there.

The sun shone, the sky was clear and blue for the run to the Middleton Tavern on Sunday 21st August.   A good number of people brought their Triumphs out in what was a perfect day for a run through the country, stopping off at Willunga for a coffee before heading down to the beach at Middleton.   Unfortunately there was only one whale at Bashams Beach about a kilometre off shore.   Thanks to Greg & Lorraine Page for organising the day and putting on such beautiful weather.  Let’s hope spring is just around the corner with more sunny days like this.
The mid week run on Wednesday 7th September is being organised by Tony Harvie (who we haven’t seen out and about for a while) meeting in the Top Carpark Windy Point at 1.00pm for a 1.15pm departure with the destination being Balance at Meadows (opp the Bakery) for afternoon tea.

Don’t forget the Day of Triumph on Sunday 11th September at Civic Park opp Tea Tree Plaza.   This is a major event in the Club’s year so let’s see a record number of Triumphs on display, even if you don’t want your car to be judged bring it out and put it on show. This is an ideal opportunity to clean and polish the car in readiness for the upcoming summer months and of course the National meeting (if attending) in October.   Gates open at 9.00am.

Sunday 25th September is the annual Bay to Birdwood car run.   The Club will be setting up on Dequetteville Terrace from 9.00am as in the past.   BYO food, drinks, tables, chairs etc and the Club BBQ will be available for use if anyone wishes to cook breakfast.

DON’T FORGET THERE IS NO MEETING IN OCTOBER DUE TO THE NATIONALS.

The All Triumph Rally for the Tony Esau Memorial Trophy was held on 20th November.  The organisers, Bill & Margie, set questions in a number of locations and we were required to park the car and walk to find the answers.  As there was no obvious “coffee stop” along the route we did a big loop to Birdwood for those people who wanted morning tea.   It was an excellent run with a few curly questions and also a challenge to count and name the CFS stations (which were no more than 50m from the road) along the way.

The end point was a nice park at the top end of Hahndorf (Littlehampton) where we all enjoyed a club sponsored BBQ lunch, and waited with baited breath for the announcement of the winner.  To add a bit of interest, Bill decided he would have a separate competition for those members who were driving Non Triumphs.   Congratulations to Eva & David Treen for winning that section with runners up Peter and Natika and Dean and Tammy Berlemon.

The overall winner for the Tony Esau Trophy and the “honour” of setting next year’s event, was a very competitive Ian and Raelene Rigby, with second place going to Alex and Sue Smithson and third place to Peter and Julie Davidge.  Congratulations to all.

Huge thanks go to Bill and Margie for not only setting the route, but transporting the club BBQ and all the cooking utensils and food for lunch.  Also thanks to Peter and Dean for their help in cooking and serving up.

The Christmas Dinner on 10th December is the next TSOA event and once again it is being held at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club at 6.30pm for club sponsored “happy half hour” drinks with dinner starting at 7.00pm.   We hope to see all Trophy winners in attendance to accept their awards.

The annual after Christmas mid week run is being held on Wednesday 28th December.  The meeting place is Crafers Inn at 10.00am onwards for coffee, departing at 11.00am and heading south to Middleton Tavern for lunch.  All details are in the magazine and if anyone has any queries please contact Rory or myself.

Don’t forget there is no meeting in December with an informal meeting on Tuesday 17th January for the start of 2012.

I take this opportunity of wishing everyone and their families a safe and happy Festive Season and look forward to catching up in January.

The Nationals were two years in the planning and it is now all over!!!   The week was full of fun and camaraderie and it is always nice to catch up with our interstate colleagues.  The weather in Mt Gambier was very kind to us and it was even hot on the Wednesday travelling back to Victor Harbor.  Unfortunately the weather in Victor was typical for the area with drizzly rain.   We hope that all those who attended had an enjoyable time and will consider going to Victoria in 2012.

The All Triumph Rally for the Tony Esau Memorial Trophy is on Sunday 20th November meeting at Burnside Townhall carpark at 9.00am.   There will be a club sponsored BBQ at the destination which is a tightly held secret until the day, with the run being set by last year’s winners, Bill and Margie.   This will be the last Sunday run for the year with the Christmas dinner rounding off what I hope has been another successful year socially.

The Christmas Dinner and Trophy Presentation night is on Saturday 10th December at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club and payment is required in full at the meeting on 15th November.   The menu and cost are listed in TRak and it should be another successful night, the venue being very popular.

The annual after Christmas run is heading to Middleton Tavern for lunch meeting at Crafers Inn at 10.00am for coffee departing at 11.00am sharp.

The mid week run in September ended up at Balance in Meadows for afternoon tea.  There were seven Triumphs given a run that day along with a few other vehicles.  The run took us to Stirling, Mylor, Echunga and Macclesfield and back to Meadows on country roads.  Thanks to those people who came along and thanks to Tony for organising and Natalie for typing up the directions.

The annual Day of Triumph was held at Civic Park in rather inclement weather, however it was pleasing to see over 40 cars brought out despite the forecast and rain.  Congratulations to all winners and thanks to all the judges, scorers and helpers on the day.  A big thank you to Bill and Margie for providing the tent and also donating two bottles of wine for the gate prizes, also Bob Cini for getting to Civic Park very early to keep the entry clear and returning the key to the Council.   A list of trophy winners will be in TRAK.

There is a mid week run on Wednesday November 2nd being organised by Bill Smith and details are in the magazine.

The Christmas Dinner is fast approaching and payment in full is required at the November meeting.  Bookings are being taken now and if you wish you can post payment to the Club address.   The date is Saturday 10th December at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club where we will enjoy pre dinner drinks (club sponsored) from 6.30pm and a 3 course dinner (with choice of two in each course) at a cost of $45 for members and $59 for non members which represents very good value.  The menu is published in the magazine.  We would love to see all the Day of Triumph winners present to accept their trophy(s).

Thank you to all who have assisted during the past year be it organising runs, preparing supper, selling raffle tickets etc.   The job of Social Secretary is a lot easier when you have willing helpers.  If you would like to take on the position, please put your name forward as this position becomes vacant at the AGM on 16th August.

Thanks to Stephen for organising the mid week run on 6th July in, what can only be described as atrocious conditions.  Three brave people brought their Triumphs, the rest opting for the comfort of good demisters, windscreen wipers and a good heater.   The meeting place was Millies at Stirling for coffee then the run went for a distance of approx 75kms taking in Clarendon, Meadows, Macclesfield ending up at Grumphy’s at Hahndorf for wood oven pizzas.

Ian and Raelene’s run to Cafe Y at Chateau Yaldara Lyundoch on Sunday 24th July saw 11 Triumphs brought out in the very inclement weather.  A few other members came along in their normal cars.  We had a tour of the back streets of North Adelaide passing the sad TR6 (it has featured in TRak) parked on the side of the road before heading up Gorge Road to Cudlee Creek for a coffee stop.  The rain conditnued to fall as we made our way to Lyndoch and lunch at Cafe Y.   Thanks to Ian and Raelene for their efforts in organising the run.

The next ladies technical session is on Tuesday 9th August at Cafe Buongiorno Mitcham and we would love to see you there for a chat and a bite to eat and, of course, a little technical discussion.

The run on Sunday 21st August is heading south to Willunga for coffee (the swap meet is on if anyone wants to go early and meet up afterwards) then heading down to Middleton Tavern for lunch.

Don’t forget to put Sunday 11th September in your diary for the Day of Triumph at Civic Park opposite TTP.  This is a major event in the Club’s year so let’s see a record number of Triumphs on display, even if you don’t want your car to be judged bring it along and put it on show.

The other major event is the Christmas Dinner and Trophy Presentation on Saturday 10th December at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club.  The 3 course meal with choice is very good value.   Details will be in TRak.

The sausage sizzle lunch at Thorndon Park on Sunday 19th June saw 38 people enjoy a club sponsored gourmet sausage lunch.  The weather forecast was not good, however there was blue sky and sunshine for the morning and into the early afternoon, before the rain set in later on  The run, organised by Bill Smith, took in some roads not travelled before, departing from The Place Next Door on Greenhill Road and heading into the hills ending up at Thorndon Park at 12.30pm for lunch.  The gourmet sausages were cooked by Bill Berlemon at home and transported to the park in foil lined eskies to keep them hot.  Thanks to Bill and Margie for organising the food, Bill and Lyle for cooking the sausages, Sue T for preparing the bread rolls and Bill Smith for organising the run route.

The mid week run on Wednesday 6th July is meeting at Millies Bakery at Stirling at 10.00am for coffee before heading off at 11.00am destination Grumphy’s at Hahndorf for wood oven pizzas.  Stephen Wade has organised this run.

The run on 24th July is being organised by Ian Rigby and heading to Cafe Y in the Barossa for lunch stopping off at Cudlee Creek for coffee on the way.  Ian and Raelene have put a lot of work into organising this day, so let’s see lots of Triumphs out and about whatever the weather may throw at us.

The mid week run in early May ended up at Doncho’s Restaurant at Virginia Nursery.  The meeting place was Endue on Grand Junction Road for coffee and a browse through the shop.  The run took us up through Chain of Ponds to Kersbrook and down towards Gawler before picking up Angle Vale Road and Gawler Road to the Nursery.  Hopefully those people who came along enjoyed the run and their lunch.

The annual weekender was again very successful with 44 people joining in what can only be described as a weekend full of fun, food and a bit of frivolity.  The only disappointment was the lack of Triumphs, probably due to the shocking weather forecast for strong winds and rain, which did catch up with us on Sunday for our trip home.  Once again Bill and Margie put an awful lot of effort into organising the two days and I know they had already done the trip twice before the actual event.  A huge thank you from everyone who attended for what was a great two days.  Where to next year?

The run on Sunday 19th June will end up at Thorndon Park for a club sponsored gourmet sausage sizzle lunch.  There is plenty of under cover area should the weather be inclement, so don’t let the weather deter you from participating.  Just bring chairs, tables and drinks and of course your Triumph.

The next ladies technical session will be on Tuesday 14th June at Cafe Buongiorno Mitcham at 12.00 noon.  As usual if you are free on that day come along and join us for a chat and a bite to eat.

There will be a mid week run on Wednesday July 6th meeting at Millies Bakery in Stirling at 10.00am for 11.00am departure.  The run is ending up at Grumphy’s in Hahndorf for wood fired pizzas for lunch at a cost of $14.90ph.

A reminder that due to the National Rally being held in Mt Gambier in October there will be NO MEETING that month.

The annual breakfast run was again organised by Lyle & Sue Taylor who were unfortunately unable to attend however Lyle saw all the cars off from the Mitcham Shopping Centre carpark at 8.00am.   The run took us through Blackwood to Clarendon and the picnic area down by the oval.  It was a perfect day weatherwise and thanks to Lyle & Sue for organising.

The ladies Technical lunch on 12th April saw a good number discuss all things technical and enjoy a bite to eat as well.  The next lunch will be on Tuesday 14th June at Cafe Buongiorno Mitcham.

The next mid week run is on Wednesday 4th May heading to Doncho’s Cafe at Virginia Nursery for lunch.  We are meeting at Endue Cnr Grand Junction and Nelson Roads at 10.00am for coffee departing 11.00am.

The annual weekender is fast approaching and full payment should have been made at the April Meeting.  As usual it promises to be an excellent weekend organised by Bill and Margie with plenty of things to do and see on our way to our overnight stop at Pt Pirie and the following day on our return to Adelaide.  The dates are Sat/Sun 21st/22nd May.

The June run on Sunday 19th will be a club sponsored sausage sizzle lunch at Thorndon Park where there is a large under cover area should the weather be inclement.  Meeting at 10.00am at The Place Next Door Cnr Glynburn and Greenhill Rds departing at 11.00am.

The mid week run on 2nd March headed to Langhorne Creek for coffee, on to the Wellington Hotel for lunch and then Strathalbyn for afternoon tea.   I understand this run was well attended and all enjoyed the day.  Thanks to Bill and Maggie for organising.

The run on 27th March was well attended despite a gloomy start to the day with a threat of rain and fog up at Crafers.   The run took us through the hills, through Echunga, Clarendon and ended up at Montagana Cafe at Blackwood where some people had breakfast, some morning tea and others lunch.  Thanks to Tony and Wendy for organising this Sunday run.

The next ladies lunch is on Tuesday April 12th at Cafe Buongiorno Mitcham.  If you are free on that day come along and join us for a chat and a bite to eat.

The next Sunday run is the Breakfast Run to Clarendon on 17th April and again is being organised by Lyle and Sue, meeting at 7.45am at Mitcham Shopping Centre behind the service station.   BYO gas cooker, table, chairs, drinks and all your breakfast goodies.

This year’s weekender is heading to the Lower Flinders area on 21st/.22nd May and as usual is filling fast.  If you are thinking of coming along please get in touch with Margie to book your place.  Full payment is required at the April meeting and the cost is $100pp for members.

There are still a few gaps on the supper roster so if you are able to help out please let either Lorraine Page or Sue Gibson know.

The Ice Cream run on 29th January organised by Tom and Judie was very well patronised with over 50 people enjoying ice cream, fish ‘n chips, donuts, coffee etc at Noonies Kiosk at Semaphore Park.  The day was extremely warm which made for a good night to drive along the coast and watch the sunset.  This run is always very popular and thanks to Tom and Judie for organising this event for the past 18 years.

The first Ladies Technical Session for 2011 was also very well attended with lots of technical talk happening.   Hope to see you all again on Tuesday 12th April at Caffe Buongiorno Mitcham.

All British Day saw us down under the trees at the Uraidla Oval so plenty of shade was to be had, albeit it was a bit cool to begin with, but the day turned out to be perfect.  It was a huge event this year with a record number of cars and it was great to see so many Triumphs in attendance.   The Uraidla market was frequented by a number of the ladies.  Thanks to those members who assisted on the day, some of whom were up at Uraidla at 6.00am.

Bill and Margie have once again taken on organising this year’s weekender, which will be going to the mid North on the weekend of 21st and 22nd May.  I suggest you get your name down early to reserve your place in what promises to be another full weekend with museum visits, gaol tours, good food and of course great company.  The cost has been kept to $100pp for members and will need to be paid at the April meeting.
